Six Hot Tips for Getting Started with Online Video Marketing
My company is doing a lot of work with video these days. We’ve always been heavy into text content distribution, but video is something a little new for us. We are already seeing some fantastic results, and it is clear that video is a major trend that is here to stay.
From December 2006 to December 2007, the percentage of Internet users who visited a video sharing site such as YouTube increased from 33% to 48%.
On an average day, the number of Internet users who visit a video sharing site doubled in the same period.
From year-end 2006 to year-end 2007, the number of men who had ever visited a video sharing site increased from 40% to 53%; the number of women increased from 27 to 43%. So there is still a somewhat higher proportion of men who view online video, but women are catching up fast.
In other words, a LOT of people are viewing online videos. So how do you take advantage of this phenomenon? Here are 6 keys to keep in mind when getting started:
1. Your videos do not have to be complex or look like a Hollywood production. In fact, it doesn’t even have to have actual video footage. How do you make a video without video? Just combine a voiceover or some other kind of soundtrack with still images and save it in an acceptable video format. BAM! Instant video.
2.Your videos should be short in length. The Web is a medium built for short bursts of information. You have two things going against you with long videos: people’s impatience with download times, and short attention spans. Keep it short, snappy, and to the point.
3.Your videos should be titled and tagged with the best keywords related to your business. This is absolutely critical to your business, assuming you are doing video distribution for marketing purposes. If you’re just doing it for fun, then it really doesn’t matter.
4.It is fine to distribute a video multiple times. It sounds like spamming, but it truly isn’t if you do it right and for the right reasons. The main reason for distributing a video multiple times is to give it exposure via a number of different keywords, which could potentially expose your message to many more people who might not otherwise find you. However, it is advisable to make a slight change to the video each time – length of video, file type, etc.
5.Set up accounts at multiple video sites. YouTube is the best known such site, but there are lots more. Don’t limit yourself to one site just because it happens to have the most users. Stretch out. There are online solutions that can make this process much easier if you really get serious about giving your video wide distribution.
6.Have fun! Making videos can be a very rewarding activity. And the more fun you have with it, the better your videos will be.

How to Get Tons of Web Traffic Using your Article Resource Box
If there is one mistake in article marketing that many would be writers make, it is probably the inclination to write articles which are nothing more than one long advertisement. This can be very costly especially when you are trying to build web traffic. While people are on line for various reasons, the common denominator is they want information. All of the advertising and promotion should be reserved for that little section at the end of your article known as the resource box.
Christopher M. Knight the owner and founder of Ezine Articles.com, writes,” the body of your article is where you “give” and the resource box is where you get to “take” for your article marketing gift of information.”
Indeed. If people like the article you wrote, then chances are they will want to find out more. Your resource box is the doorway to readers getting additional information and you getting more site traffic.
Naturally your byline should contain your name. Pretty basic but you would be surprised at the number of articles which do not have it. It is also okay to include a brief description about yourself. The key word here is brief. Going on and on about what you did after graduating from Whatsamatter University won’t cut it for your readers. Instead focus on the benefits you can provide to them.
Also make sure your link is active and pointing toward the page you want. Then check it and check it again. More website traffic has been lost due to the fact people click on a link and wind up on the wrong page or worse “page not found”.
These are the basic components of your resource box. More than anything, it must be interesting and grab the attention of readers. A big part of this is your keyword selection. Keywords go along way in not only helping readers find your article but getting them to also click over to your website. There are a number of tools you can use for this; however you still cannot go wrong with Overture’s free keyword selector tool.
A word to the wise here: Stay away from stuffing your articles and resource box with keywords. Search engines and article directories frown on this. Also stay away from using keywords that are not related to the topic of your article. This is a classic deception with some writers and does not do anything but tick people off.
You only get between three to five lines to persuade people to click to your website so give some real thought to your resource box. A good device to assist you with this, are the magazines at your local newsstand. Think about it. You walk by and see something that catches your attention. Chances are it’s a sharp headline with a persuasive subtitle that triggers you to read further. It could also be the headline with a list of bullet points. The strategy here is to adapt some of the same attention grabbing techniques to your resource box.
Always keep in mind the main purpose of your article resource box is to get people to travel from the end of reading your article to your website. Make sure your article and resource box work as a team. Provide good article content while showing people the benefits of clicking your link. By doing this you are well on your way to more web site traffic

Webpage Flv Player – You Don’t Want to Miss This !
When the time comes to look for a webpage flv player you have to think about what you need, otherwise you could end up using an inadequate product which might offer poor execution and lead to disappointment. Take a look at the information which follows where i lay out the guidelines of understanding what it takes to get a suitable, well-designed movie player for the web.
Web videos are quite powerful when you work them into the design of your webpages; your site’s guests like to view digital movies in addition to having to read the usual boring text, of course, the content of your video(s) must be appealing and relevant to your site’s topic, but it is a requirement that you show your videos in a state of the art webvideo player which is easy to use and well though-out.
What happens is that by inserting a webpage flv player in a suitable place and make use of attractive colors and style, your video(s) can actually inspire those who visit your website to view it and understand what your site is about and what you want them to do. With this new appreciation for how imperative it is to use an appropriate video display tool, let me show you the quick way to get one.
First off, you need to know that in order for you to display videos on a webpage, first it has to be transformed to the internet’s preferred display format, flash video (flv) and then an embedded flv player can be used to display it. Easier said than done? No, it’s a very easy thing to do – you can find a variety of suitable software solutions on the web that easily convert your videos to web format and automatically insert a web-compatible player onto your web page.
Just one thing before you begin to look for a webpage flv player – be confident that whatever program you choose will allow you to select from a wide range of player styles and player ‘skins’, and that you will be able to select the player’s dimensions and the quality level of display. It is of utmost importance that you be able to manipulate these variables on your own; this gives you control over the look of your site, and also important – more return and unique visitors to your website!

Homage to the Business of Link-Building
For a moon or two now, there has been this debate about whether link-builders are, in actual fact, SEO’s or whether they should sit in a different realm – sitting more closely with business development or PR. Much of what link-builders do, after all, is relationship focussed, prospecting and of course results driven – this to me sounds very much like a salesmanship. But it’s more than that – it’s the full plethora of what true SEO can deliver for a business.
Now, I think in many respects, competent link-builders are the most all-rounded SEO’s in the sector (not simply salesy folk at all), with skills to not only develop campaigns to build a website’s authority and trust through relationships and activity, but also to understand key marketing principles at the root of all SEO activity, or the potential a relationship with a site owner might be worth.
Now, a couple of guys in my team might laugh when they read that as they’ll remember a horrible acronym that I’ve used in training materials: RAMRAT. In my opinion, everything in SEO should consider ROI, Accessibility, Marketability, Relevancy, Authority and Trust. I also suggested another couple of acronyms too, but they didn’t sound so ridiculous so didn’t stick with the team…
The idea is that each of these items should be considered in light of what both robots and humans perceive. Let’s take how they might be perceived by humans and search engines:
- ROI: well if you do everything else in this list to full effect, then there certainly should be return on investment in that there is great authority, trust and relevancy attributed to the website you’re working on.
- Accessibility: a link should be crawlable by robots and findable and clickable by humans meandering through the web.
- Marketability: a link, and the content, widget or image that it’s with should make people want to naturally share it to their own networks, their blog or prompt another type of engagement. The rediscovery of these links through this sharing and aggregation of topics across social media can be great in building links naturally too (albeit with you being the catalyst). Relevancy: link-building requires an eye on targeting the content to the places that your target market loiter online – that way you can benefit from clicks as well as the perceived relevancy that is passed via the link.
- Authority: this links to the next point but it can be hugely helpful to build link-building campaigns that align themselves with pre-established authorities in the sector you are working in. And naturally, the authority of those links is going to be hugely helpful to pass on to the website you are link-building for.
- Trust: would the link pass a manual review? Does it look natural to a search engine and if your target audience was to see it, would it devalue the brand in any way through association or presentation?
…there are many examples to highlight these points, but if your link-builders can stand by their work in a way that drives ROI through each of these areas then they should indeed be regarded as fully fledged SEO’s. For this reason, the business of link-building is an area that I whole heartedly think needs to be seen as a true representation of what SEO is all about – not a sales role, not a back-office activity but leading the way in creatively understanding and applying a huge range of optimisations for the benefit of greater organic visibility. And, for this reason, I tip my hat to all you professional link-builders out there – good work! J
What do you think? Are link-builders SEOs or are they best described in another way?

How HTML5 Will Shake Up the Web – The new standard will make Web apps more powerful and less buggy.
HTML5, the next version of the markup language used to build Web pages, has attracted attention for its ability to show video inside a Web browser without using plug-ins, such as Adobe’s Flash. But lesser-known features could ultimately have a much bigger impact on how users experience the Web.
Experts say that what HTML5 does behind the scenes–such as its network communications and browser storage features–could make pages load faster (particularly on sluggish mobile devices), make Web applications work more smoothly, and even enable browsers to read older Web pages more easily.
Many websites now act like desktop applications–Web-based office productivity suites and photo-editing tools, for example. But many of the sophisticated features of these sites depend on connections that developers create between different Web technologies, such as HTML, javascript, and cascading style sheets (CSS)–connections that don’t always work perfectly. As a result, websites can be sluggish, may work differently from browser to browser, and can be vulnerable to security holes.
Bruce Lawson, who evangelizes about open Web standards at Opera Software, says that to make websites perform functions the Web wasn’t originally designed for, developers must perform complex coding tasks that can easily introduce errors and make applications fail.
The group working on HTML5, Lawson says, was given the tall order of making the specification more forgiving than its predecessors so that older or improperly coded websites will work better in HTML5-enabled browsers. They also wanted to extend the specification forward to support modern trends such as rich Internet applications. “The basis of HTML5 is relentlessly pragmatic,” he says. “It’s designed to reflect what people are actually doing.”
Experts point to a feature called Web Sockets as an example of the improvements that HTML5 can offer. Web Sockets provide a website with an application programming interface (API) that opens an ongoing connection between a page and a server, so that information can pass between them in real-time. Normally, the browser has to make a request every time it wants an update.
The effect of Web Sockets is something like moving from having a conversation via e-mail to having it via instant message, says Ben Galbraith, who cofounded the Web development, and is director of developer relations at Palm. With e-mail, each message is sent as a single event, while instant messages allow for a smooth, ongoing conversation.

If Facebook were a country, it would now be third-largest
Facebook marks milestone
Facebook, the wildly popular social-networking site, hit a milestone today, reaching 500 million users. That’s up by about 100 million in just a few months.
“As of this morning, 500 million people all around the world are actively using Facebook to stay connected with their friends and the people around them,” chief executive officer Mark Zuckerberg said on his blog. “This is an important milestone for all of you who have helped spread Facebook around the world. Now a lot more people have the opportunity to stay connected with the people they care about.”
Six years ago when it began, he said, “I could have never imagined all of the ways people would use Facebook.”
At 500 million, if Facebook were a country it would rank as the world’s third-largest, behind China and India but ahead of the United States.
Mr. Zuckerberg, who started the site in 2004 when still at Harvard, also unveiled a new application dubbed Facebook Stories, where users can write about their experiences.
